It’s hard to know how much “Socrates” was Plato. But when the worst thing your contemporary critics do (see Aristophanes’s The Cloud) is paint you as a ditz, he’s definitely not some violent thug. That being said, I totally see Socrates go into a thousand-yard stare when asked by Plato about his service during the war.
