Socraties didn’t start arguments he started discussions and cooperated with the other person so they both come tp the truth and both understand it well.
A fun fact I learned recently about Socrates is that he was most likely killed in a political purge because of his pro-oligarchy, anti-democratic views

It’s hard to know how much “Socrates” was Plato. But when the worst thing your contemporary critics do (see Aristophanes’s The Cloud) is paint you as a ditz, he’s definitely not some violent thug. That being said, I totally see Socrates go into a thousand-yard stare when asked by Plato about his service during the war.
