I remember playing Mass Effect three and I chose a “chaotic” option and my space marine character absolutely decked a small female reporter.

That’s what most branching dialogues do. You unfortunately don’t have fully control of each step.

The very beginning of KCD, I chose to volunteer to help. My character immediately insults the people I’m volunteering to help, and calls them incapable of doing it without me.
That alone almost made me quit playing.

Oh man, the first thing that comes to my mind is the visual novel Class of 09. Perfectly designed so that every dialogue option results in the craziest outcomes you least expect and you end up regretting it in the end.

Ah yes, I didn’t know shoving aside meant a one two punch into breaking someones leg.
