Indira Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher didn’t start the wars they commanded, their (male) opponents did. Neither did Queen Victoria – she had no real power (hence why she as a woman was even allowed to occupy that position in the first place in an era when women didn’t have the vote and were literally considered property of their male “guardians”). The people who actually had the power to wage wars and colonise back then were all men.
