    1. Raiding is for the glory. Trading is for the gold. Discovering new lands is for the people who realize the first two are a great way to die early.

Technically there were no Swedish vikings because Sweden, as a country, didn’t exist at the time.

Swedish Viking also tried to raid Constantinople but ended up impressing the ERE emperors and got recruited into Varangian Guards

They forgot to mention the trade was for a large part in slaves (literally ‘Slavs’). And that the founded among others the Kingdom of Rus.

Being a Varangian guard was just a nice side hussle

    5. The Norwegians were also very involved in raiding and settling, especially in Scotland and Ireland.

Edit: also not going to get massively into it, but the vikings from what is now Sweden were very active in Eastern Europe and established many cities and states along the Volga and Dnieper that led to what is now Russia, Ukraine, etc. overall, this meme is dumb as hell.

    6. Also don’t tell swedes that the big majority of the Varangians were Danish/Norwegians and Saxon expatriates
