What gets me are the dissociative moments where, one second you’re perfectly fine and all is normal and the next you just feel like everything is just a little different, like you’re looking at the space you’re in in a completely fresh and unfamiliar way and you don’t seem to quite fit in your skin.

I’d say it’s a loss of hope. No future. Nothing to look forward to. Your only place among others is at work, and they’ll throw you away the second you’re too old or too sick to be useful.
