Feeling the sun again after 10 days must be a feeling of another world

I hope the Artemis II mission is just the beginning of a new era of space exploration. For 10 days humans have come together, forgetting their differences, to cheer on four people as they do the impossible. It’s amazing what humanity can accomplish when they work together.

The boats look like toy boats.
I watched the splash down, and am glad they made it.

So much could have gone wrong but didn’t. I’m old enough to remember watching the Apollo missions and being glued to the TV. This was a reminder of what great scientists are capable of and I’m excited for the next journey. Congratulations NASA.

Why do they need the helicopters? Can’t the just tow the “front porch” back to the carrier ship? It seems like it would be so much easier.

Growing up I always dreamed of seeing a space race like I had heard of back in the day. As I got older I was less convinced it was going to happen. Space has always amazed me since I was a kid. This has been a real treat, and feels like the beginning of what kid me always dreamed to see

I’m glad to see that NASA has truly adopted better safety standards and that they take it seriously since incidents like Columbia. I’ve been recently learning about the history of NASA missions before Apollo 11, and how different safety issues would be reported by engineers to upper management but ignored. This happened (as far as I know) with Apollo 1, as well as the 2003 Columbia disaster (after Apollo 11) and likely missions in between.
Then in the case of the Columbia disaster, there was apparently a bad culture in the workplace which did not care much about proper safety procedure. It’s just nice to know that NASA has learned from these incidents and trusts their engineers. I remember reading that before the Artemis II launch, NASA was made aware of a potential major issue and fixed it before launching

May I say our US Navy is absolutely badass at everything?! Thank you, Navy.

I was born in the 70s and grew up watching the excitement of space exploration and the Apollo missions and space shuttle flights.
Then it all died down for quite a few years. Hardly anyone was interested in space.
I am glad this “rerun” is creating all the hype all over again. The world needs to look up in wonder at what could be out there instead of looking at each other in hostility.

That must be the most surreal feeling in the world after being in space for 10 days. Fantastic
