    1. John Harvey Kellogg believed bland foods could reduce sexual urges, which is why he created cornflakes as part of a strict “healthy” diet at his sanitarium. His brother Will Keith Kellogg later turned it into the sugary breakfast cereal we know today. I used Will for the meme because I couldn’t turn John into a wojak.

      Imagine if John saw what we do on the internet now. He’d be trying to turn the entire corn crop of the Midwest into a giant flake.

    4. It’s interesting because Britain’s Corn laws had the un-stated purpose of restricting reproduction (Malthusian-ism was popping off), which is the broader symbolic idea behind these (Corn) Flakes.

      There is often truths embedded in offbeat stories like this one. Especially offbeat stories that have survived to this day.
