If it’s a dramatisation then who cares but when they claim it’s an accurate docu series it grinds my gears to no end

Haven’t you heard? Historical accuracy isn’t as important as making people uncomfortable with the reality of our collective past as humans! Re-wrting history is going to work (he says in failed exhaustion), if we pretend it wasn’t a certain way back then, then everyone will just forget that it was like that, and no one will quietly preserve those ideals and hold them in secret, accidentally fomenting further disagreement in the future…
Sarcasm yall… tell it like it brutally was, and if you don’t want to watch, don’t watch…
It’s like tofu bacon… if you want bacon, just eat bacon, if you don’t want meat, don’t call it bacon…

Waiting for them to make a WW2 show and make a black Nazi. Still waiting…

I really tried watching the Cleopatra one but couldn’t do it. When they had that line about my grandma said Cleopatra was black, I was just like I can’t do this. Some creative liberties sure but there’s a limit.

Everyone is focusing on black Cleopatra, i am just going to point out the show depicted Rome as *subordinate to Egypt*
Historical accuracy wasn’t it strongest suit

It existed long before Netflix. All the movies taking place in ancient Greece with a 100% Anglo Saxon cast is a least extreme version of that.

Ngl, the saddest thing is when the excuse is that it’s to give a group more history even though they already have a lot of interesting things to talk about that are under appreciated. Using the black cleopatra thing as an example, they could’ve made a documentary about the 25th dynasty of Egypt if they wanted, and give exposure to a relatively less talked about period of Egyptian history, but nope, blatant falsehoods instead. Like why not make a movie about Mansa Musa of Mali, or Askia of Songhai, both of whom led very interesting lives.

Its kinda sad that there are still so many on thsi sub that defend this when literally everything else thats slightly incorrect gets clowned on to hell and back.
You guys are way to warped up in american politics or what ever the reason for that is. It doesn’t change the past. No matter how much you want to.

Not exactly what the meme is about, but I remember really not liking when they changed Aragorn’s race from white to black in the MTG LOTR set because the source material pretty explicitely mentions the character having pale skin, but it’s really hard to point that out without sounding like a racist so….

And if you’re against it, then you’re a racist and a Nazi—you need to be banned immediately.
