Wow. The Challenger accident was a seminal moment in my young life. Watched it live on TV with my brother and two sisters. Etched in my brain. Help shape my young future. Ended up going to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama and graduating university with a BS in Physics with a focus on Astronomy. I would love to have this sampler at my house.

May they rest in peace. We will never forget them.

Forever will I remember the words, “go at throttle up”.
The momentary confusion I had and quick realization of what I was watching still lingers with me to this day.
only time I’m proud to be a space coast native is when the launches happen. Here’s my view from Artemis II!! I wish I recorded because the house down the street had a whole group of kids no older than 15 screaming at the sight of her!!!!!! Too freaking cute!

I wanted to share what is arguably my greatest thrift store find and also my daily reminder of those brave Astronauts that came before us and paved the way for for the Artemis II crew. Wishing them a save journey home

Also.. not so fun fact! Big Bird was supposed to be on this launch to encourage lower income children to pursue influential careers!!!! Could you imagine if big bird was on the challenger???😳😳😳😳

I saw that on live TV as a kid.
Still have no wirds to describe the feeling.

My father was Air Force Security for the Challenger on the mission before the last. 9 successful missions if I remember correctly?
Over/under was 84 seconds for Artemis. Good odds tbh

Challenger’s loss somehow burns just as much today as it did seeing that shit go down as a boy. I think honoring that crew’s loss, rather than pretending it didn’t happen, is way more honorable. Good for you, man.

There is hardware on board Artemis that came from the Challenger mission 🥹 so this is such a fitting contribution to that thread of history

I’m so glad it found a good home, and survived. That’s something that a person who knew one of those astronauts listed would have had.

Is there any signage on here? My grandmother was an adamant needle pinner. And this looks like her framage and something she’d do.

Growing up in Central FL, I watched The Challenger live from my elementary school’s parking lot. We as kids didn’t understand what happened, but all the adults did and remember everyone being very upset.
We got to watch Artemis as well from our yard this time in Orlando and boy was it BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL, it just never gets old to see. It’s cool every time, but especially Artemis.
