From stories I have heard, she was a wonderful person. Funny and incredibly intelligent. In 1965, one of her essays was picked to be published for the 100th anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination. She even drove a pumpkin orange Porsche in the ‘70s. In 1971, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease (that’s what it was known as at the time) and died in 1976. I never knew her, but everyone in the family says I remind them of her and I take a lot of comfort in that. My mom’s younger sister is in the back, but she was always terrible to me.

What a sad loss. She was looking really nice the day of the photo. Hair and outfit, capped with that beaming smile
