    1. Just be careful, that is Stake’s territory and you don’t want to get “vampired” for taking his grub.

Great picture of the amount of waste our civilization produces. Fast Food restaurants now force the employees to through out leftovers, meanwhile their prices go up and up.

0/10 for throwing that much food away. 10/10 for putting it in a bag and not directly in the trash.

I’d eat one of the centre ones and I’m not even hard on cash. Fuck it

    5. The Dunkin’ by my college did this regularly. (Farther back than I care to admit) and we used to dumpster dive and have free donuts until we got sick of them.

Well part owner of bagel store here. I can’t give them away because someone could get sick and sue. Only thing i can do is bake less and hope i get through day.

    7. pretty common with any food service which is highly perishable. there’s two ways – you can make & sell fresh food with wastage or make & sell highly processed food with lots of preservatives. it’s a choice either way.

    8. If you’re mad at the store, the state or county may have a law that says they have to throw it away and can’t give it to the homeless.

    9. Oh yeah, So i’ve worked in a mall before.

So before clocking out in the middle of the night, I walked around a bakery store tenants who were clearing out the store for the night, they literally throwing out bags with bakery products that didn’t sell well in the entire day.

Those stuff are still perfectly edible– not even a bad products, just unsold.

    10. Seeing donuts thrown out doesnt hurt me nearly as bad, considering theyre nothing but chunks of diabetes and heart attack bread.

    11. Is there any actual trash in the bag with it? Looks like it is separate from the nasty trash so you can reach in and get some free food. Food safety demand you throw it out but looks like they did it in a way that if you needed the food you could still grab some out of the bag.

Or I’m reading the whole situation wrong and talking out of my ass.

      Or both.

It bothers me that there are people starving and these companies throw away food. In NY, I’ve seen the homeless rummaging through the public trash bins for food. It’s hard to watch. Yes this food is sometimes stale and yes it’s not the most nutritious but starving people need anything with calories they’re not trying to optimitize nutritients. Companies need to figure out ways to better partner with local food pantries and other non-profits. They could also have low-income programs with quick 3rd party eligibility apps to sell out these items at discounts or give them away free at the end of the day. What people dont’ realize is also, is paying customers pay for this waste. That $1.50 or whatever it is for a donut, some percent of this goes for the loss of them choosing to dump it at no profit or no social benefit to the local community.
