My Mema passed this morning. Here she is in the Navy in the 1950s.

She served in communications sending weather reports to ships. She got out when she met my grandad and had my mother. She had a very large hand in raising me and my brothers. I spent the last 3 days with her in Hospice and would not trade that time for anything in the world. She was the the most kind person I ever met and the world is a worse place without her.

    2. I bet she had some stories. I am so sorry for your loss. May her memory be eternal! ❤️

Yeah, it sucks. I lost my first one when I was 37 and my other when I was 45. I feel I had them way longer than many people I grew up with and it’s crazy how lonely you can feel losing someone so special at such an age.

You have the memories and you saw her off. You’re both lucky to have had that. Gone but not forgotten sounds so trite but it’s true. She’ll be with you.

I’m really sorry for your loss. She carried herself with a quiet strength and dignity that you don’t see often anymore, just from this photo alone you can tell she lived a life with purpose and pride.

I hope you and your family can find some peace in the memories you shared with her. People like her don’t really leave, they stay with you in the way you think, act, and carry yourself.

Rest in peace to your mema. She clearly meant a lot. 🕊️
