It fundamentally sours many aspects of the story. Harry’s dad now just seems like a racist wizard who for the most part everything worked out for him before Voldemort slid on his block. Like he was a bit of a bully but snape was a lame guy so his unrequited love was because he had no self esteem. Not it’s that he’s getting cockblock by the only wizard who doesn’t hate muggles, just black people
