Console prices rose because we shat all over Japan with recent trade deals. We had a good thing going with them too 🤦‍♂️

    2. The Nintendo 64 came out in ’96 at $200 = 430 today

      Xbox was in 05 for $299/399 = $500 – $675 today

      Xbox One was 2014 for $500 = $700 today

      Xbox series X was 2020 and $499.

Newest ones are $650 with the 2tb being $800.

This isnt crazy, we just have less money than we ever did. I blame the 4000 billionaires and the soon to be trillionaire. Who refuse to pay their share

The performance you can get in a current-gen console is actually pretty impressive for $500. The problem is, in past generations, console prices would go down with time. This generation they’re going up because the president of the USA is moronic child rapist.

    5. Speak for yourself, I have a PS2 and likely won’t buy another system ever.. just hours in the day anymore.

We survived the scalpers, so now the manufacturers think we’re okay with any price tag

Gamers: Spends upwards of $10,000 on a scalped PS5 during covid

Also gamers: “Another price increase? How do they keep getting away with this?”

    8. Why is no one talking about the shitdick format this “meme” was presented in 😭

That’s because consoles are cheaper than a PC built to the same specs. Take a PS5 for example when it was released, a PC built to the same specs would have been almost twice the amount of the console.

    10. Eh no, look at xbox…

Jokes aside, currently some parts are rising in cost due to AI, it’s reasonable for the consoles to raise their price, building a pc just as strong as those consoles is just as expensive

I wouldn’t buy a PS5 right now. Have one from already from that shortage era, but still base price with a deal for some additional add ons. Not buying the NS2 either. Overpriced, predatory, and evil company. Done supporting Nintendo in any way I can. Thankfully, I can just emulate the Nintendo switch 2 if needed. Most games for PS5 are also on PC or again emulation.

mmm not really. Console prices keep rising *and* gamers buy them anyway would be more accurate, but less meme worthy….though I guess the original isn’t really a meme either.

    13. Nah I’m still with my first gen xbox one. Yes I got it on black friday and yes it came with BO3

    14. No it’s because of the rising hardware costs thanks to AI datacentres buying up all the supplies.

Not to say your post is bad, but it’s kinda obvious. For a product to sell, there has to be demand. And there’s lots of demand for the new cool shiny console.

They’re conditioning you so that when the steam machine releases you’ll acknowledge that a playstation/box console for $1000 is normal.

In the last 3 years I bought only 1 game – Factorio. And it’s only because I had played the pirated version for years, I like what the company behind it stands for, and most importantly it was on sale at the time.
