What’s also interesting is that in the west these old historic areas are like the most expensive and touristy places that are well kept and preserved. They’ve become high end and exclusive.
In the Middle East and ROW, they’re absolute shit holes occupied by the poorest and not kept very well at all. They are still touristy to some extent.
