Different friends, different versions of you some get the deep lore, others just get the highlight reel and vibes. Both are necessary.

Agreed. I like having a mix of deep friendships and some surface level friends. I have my closest people and then I have colleagues from work that I enjoy talking to. My fiancé plays in a soccer league and I spend time with the other soccer girlfriends/wives during games but we don’t really talk outside of that much. I have a couple of ladies I’m cool with from my Zumba class. We talk and joke in class and then we go home. It’s nice.

That’s a lot of words to describe an acquaintance.

Actually agree, I have a friend who had a friend that he only played golf with. Nothing else, no other type of communication apart from golf. They would never really talk about anything other than golf when they would hang out and I found it so weird because what type of friendship is that 😂.
I kind of just realized one day that there was nothing bad about that at all. Actually think it’s kind of cool

This just seems like the difference between a friend and an acquaintance to me.

But those are simply aquaintences…..🤷🏽♀️
I have people that I see here and there and have known for years but they aren’t my friend.
I mean I guess if I had to describe them to someone I’d call them a friend because of the length of our acquaintance it might seem rude not to but in actually I don’t think that we are real friends.

Some friendships are friendships of convenience and others are friendships are friendships that are based on a truly deep level. It’s okay to want both, and it’s common to have that.
My core friend group I have known them for a long time, and choose to spend time with them during my free time whenever we can align our schedules. Have lots of other people in my life like work colleagues who I’d grab a beer with after work, or go with them to lunch, but don’t seek them out when it’s not convenient.

I think of it as having the idea of a “inner circle” and realizing that there’s a “outer circle” and if you want, you can have as many circles and levels as you want. I have people I talk to specifically online only, people that are great drinking buddies, people I’d call if I’m stranded, and people I’d house if they needed it. Having varying levels of friends is ok as long as your honest/not manipulative about it.

This post is crazy to me because they’re describing the only type of friends I’ve had my entire life.
I’ve known and chilled with plenty of people over the years, but I’ve never once had a friend that I talk about emotions and feelings and deep personal stuff with.

this is very true…. work friends, fishing friends, old war buddies, firefighting friends, knitting friends, and cat friends you need all your friends but different friends for different things is usually best….. Steve and Diana must never meet
