Interesting that garbage man is up there a couple times. Pretty cool to see tbh, considering the negative connotation it’s had in the past. I wonder how that idea got in their heads. Maybe watching friendly garbage collectors on the regular

    2. I think this is adorable. When I was in preschool I wanted to be a marine biologist before I realized how much science was involved.

    3. I want to judge parents for all the cop answers but my daughters answer to this 15 years ago was “waitress at a Chinese restaurant”

We are white, for the record.

Oh my god, people latch on to the weirdest shit. I agree with all lot of what all of you are saying, they’re preschoolers, paw patrol, etc – but at the same time, my 4 year old, who loves paw patrol, wouldn’t say police officer. I just asked him and he said “astronaut, except i doesn’t want to have to eat vegetables so probably just go on an airplane instead” – so yea, i do judge parents a little bit. Too many people out there who worship the police. I’m not an ACAB guy, but I’m close.

    4. Young kids just pick jobs they have some knowledge of and can grasp. Police officers catch bad guys. Garbage men drive a really big truck. Firefighters rescue people and have a really big truck. Doctors make people feel better. Their teachers basically raise them for half the day. Lawyer is either the child of a lawyer or has been told they are argumentative like a lawyer.

      These boys are cool.

We always idolized the professionals that kept society running as kids

I wish I was a garbage man instead of going to stupid fucking college. Now I work in an office and hate it, if I started garbage collecting at 18 I could be driving the fucking truck by now…straight to Noah’s Ice Cream shop after a long shift of garbaging.

Personally I like Samara. She doesn’t just want to be a Ballerina. She wants to be a Ballerina Teacher.
Somehow I don’t think she and Noah get along very well though. Ballerinas aren’t famous for their love of ice cream.
then again – if she is the teacher, maybe she can have ice cream? hmmmmm

I’m reading this list and thinking which would be AI resistant careers for my 9 year old…. 🙁

    9. I wanted to be a dump truck driver when I was a kid. Probably the reason why was the neighborhood I lived in was still being built and that’s all I saw when I went outside to play.

    10. If I knew then what I know now, I would have picked a trade instead of going to University.

    11. When my daughter was little she wanted to be a ballerina cop. Not a ballerina who is a cop, but a cop who specifically arrests ballerinas. Leading her to yell ‘stop dancing and come outside!’

I got in trouble when I said I wanted to be a mom when I grew up. Feminism was driving hard back then and I was hated for my response. That was very confusing for a five-year-old. I’m proud to see someone put mother up there and they were allowed to do it.

I think if more policeman were also garbageman, there might be a good balance to that. I feel like there’s a story behind that though.

Most kids do want to be police officers, until they meet one of *those* types of officers in their teens and suddenly they change their mind

I wanna be a cop. And a garbage man. I wanna take out the trash.. double time.
