    1. My father is Dutch and when I was 16 he took me to the Netherlands. Rotterdam was one of the places we went and yes, we had the green herring straight off the boat. It’s not raw, it’s cured in salt while the boats are still at sea. I have to admit, I was pretty hesitant, not a big fish fan, but it was delicious!

      Was raw herring safe to eat?

      I assume so, since they’re doing it. I’ve just never heard of it being consumed raw. One of the better tasting fish from the few I’ve tried, that’s for sure.
