It’s no surprise that china is doing well here. It reflects their gdp growth

Heights increased as nutrition increased. This is interesting.

Edit: only one of these countries uses inches. And even that one normally expresses height in feet plus inches. Odd metric.

Should break it down by ethnicity within each country. The US is by far the most ethnically diverse of the countries graphed.

Have you thought about not using tribal measuring units?

Surprised the American average didn’t go far lower given the extreme rate of central American migration in those years.

Regarding the data about China, I believe it is correct. I am a male, 44 years old, and my height is 1.81 meters. When I was 18 years old, almost all of my classmates or elders around me were shorter than me. The majority of them were 10-20 centimeters shorter than me. But now, when I walk around the university in China, I find that most of the male students are about the same height as me, or even taller than me.
When I was young, it was rare for ordinary families to have meat every day. Being able to have eggs was already a sign of a relatively wealthy family. Nowadays, young people no longer need to worry about the price and can freely enjoy any food they want. In 2021, the per capita daily protein supply in China was 124.61 grams. In 2024, the average annual vegetable consumption per person in China was 412.72 kilograms.

I’m an American woman and I dated a man from the Netherlands for a few years. He was 6’0″ and lamented that he’s a pretty short guy for his country.
Short and stout he was (apparently), I certainly wasn’t complaining.Â

I wonder how much is genetics vs environment? I’m not ethnically Dutch, but grew up there, and I’m 187cm (73.6 inches).

1 out of 6 of those countries use inches… Why not use the units 95% of the planet uses (and the units this data would have been originally collected in)?
