When one thinks about it, Barbarian was at first just like saying someone is a foreigner and speaks a different language that doesn’t make sense (basically because you don’t understand it)……only after was used from a superior frame.

I thought the idea was anyone less civilized was a barbarian, and if more, decadent.

i mean the germans back then basically were barbarians but very competent and organized ones

    4. There is an ancient greek saying that goes: Every man that is not Greek is a barbarian.
“Πας μη Έλλην, βάρβαρος”. At first the word barbarian had a meaning of someone speaking a non greek dialect. However later the meaning changed to non civilised.

    5. Isn’t the origin of the word barbarian anyone that isn’t Greek? Like yeah the map is going to be 1. Greece and then 2. Not Greeks

Britian: Bro, an entire island made of tin? And what it’s off the coast of Gaul? Get outta here!

To be fair barbarian just means foreigner so by definition anyone who’s not greek is infact a barbarian.
