Context: George Harrison of Beatles fame and Pattie Boyd married in 1966. George was also great friends with Eric Clapton, who had the hots for Boyd as well. The marriage between Harrison and Boyd just wasn’t working out, not out of malice but they just weren’t right for each other, and both still cared just not in that way. So when Clapton was like “I want your wife” his good friend George was like “yeah ok sure” and they got together. George and Pattie had a shockingly civil divorce with both caring deeply for the other’s feelings, she married Clapton, and all three remained friends.
