Important routes at the crossroads of three continents, strategic resources, cultural and religious centerpoint of many peoples and faiths. You know, minor things like these.

    2. All that opium they took back then, probably the reason why they always messed up the borders everywhere they went desu.

Also… anyone else often marvel at how “scantily clad” a lot of the “Arabian” women in ‘Agrabah’ in that movie were? lol

Like… aside from maybe a few, I can’t imagine too many women w/in the Ottoman Empire, at the time, wore ‘super revealing’ clothing w/ little-to-no comment from anyone else (if not worse repercussions)?

Oh, Disney… you silly SOBs :p

Not that she isn’t ‘hot’, aesthetically

Oil and Israel. But more important question is why middle east interfed into Europe when it was dirt poor compared to them.

You are THE prize to be won.

You are the most resource rich, disorganised, holy powderkeg the world has witnessed.

    9. Because it is the crossroads of the world in trade and there are resources there that have value.

Historically one who can control the region has untold regional and global influence.

The empires that fought over this land are as tall as the mountains.
