The French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle was located by Le Monde journalists through the Strava app of an officer jogging on the ship's deck…

    1. Cool.. how dumb.

Just like the US soldiers all over Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan had done many times.  You would would think that we should have learned something from stupid mistakes….hell, the russians have made more stupid repetitive blunders WITHOUT using tracking devices.

    2. Yeah that’s funny but that has happened a lot in the past. US bases have been found that way

    3. You do realize that the app is tracking the person running on deck and not actually the ship itself.

I am pretty sure when command finds out this guy using this………

    4. thats crazy lol, accidentally doxxing a multi billion dollar nuclear aircraft carrier just because you couldn’t miss cardio day

    5. The US military banned their soldiers from using smart devices and uploading exercises specifically because of this.

Those ding dongs mapped out bases and airfields thoroughly.

You laugh but a Russian officer got taken out because Ukraine found his Strava run route…

      Some just forget op sec.

    7. I think I’m more surprised that a boat the size of a small city can be hidden in the first place. I assumed satellites made that impossible these days

    8. “Helmsman, all ahead full, I wanna set a new PR”

“Sir, I don’t think that counts-”

“I’m going farther faster! Shuddup and go!”

    9. “even as President Donald Trump said Friday that his administration was considering “winding down” military operations in the Middle East.”

Always slightly amuses me when new outlets seem surprised at Trump not doing something he’s said he will do.

He’s a pathological liar – only his actions can be trusted – every single word he utters is suspect.

Same thing happened in Sweden where the prime ministers body guards would join him on his morning runs. With their Stravas

    11. This reminds me of when Russia started invading Ukraine; some of their positions were narrowed in on via Tinder, also a lady in Ukraine used Tinder to “honeypot” Russian soldiers in Ukraine. Crazy times we live in.

France employing retrograde motion in hope everything is resolved before arrival.

      No, no, no! You misunderstand!

The French WANT to broadcast this. They WANT you to know they’re coming AND they’re keeping in peak physical shape while en route.

No flabby croissant-munchers when these guys hit the battlefield! Fit as fiddles, and itching for a fight!

      It’s terrifying, no?

Maybe it sounds better in French…
