Reject modernity, return to monke. At least he doesn’t pay for early access to a buggy release.

Ive only pre-ordered games in the past because they came with extras as in cool trinkets or in game buffs. I haven’t pre-ordered a digital games because there aren’t any more tangible gifts that ive seen and the in game items are all ahitty looking skins that can be bought after the game drops anyways.

I was guilty of this with Sparking Zero, the second game I ever pre-ordered. Mainly because it had a 15% discount through GMG, and then because my initial key didn’t work, they just gave me a Premium Edition key.
Other than that, yeah don’t do it.

Preordered crimson desert, dropped 1hour 43 minutes, refunded it. Guess what platform I got it from?
But I’ll be real tho. The game is great. But I don’t wanna deal with this jank and weird design decisions. I’ll let them bake it for a little bit and grab it at 50 percent off when it’s like fully patched it.

Relatively few games actually “ran out”; even back when pre-orders were first popularized. It happened a few times locally with some big games, and companies jumped right into making foolish consumers worry more than they ever truly needed to be.

Eh, I did it for the new Tomodachi Life so I can download it in advance, since the download codes are sent to customers a week before release.
That way, when it comes out, I can get straight into it after getting back from work instead of having to potentially wait forever for it to download, like the last game I brought did.

Yeah not like what Nintendo did with the Mario 3d collect- wait…

The only benefit is downloading earlier but it’s a negligible bonus in comparison to all the reasons not to preorder

You might get bonuses, you might get a discount.

Don’t give them ideas…. they will use an excuse to limit digital releases to charge higher prices. Or they will delay based on pricing, 1 month it will be 120 and after that it goes to 70.

I do it so I can remote download the game while I’m at work and play as soon as I get home.

I think it’s good if it’s a indie game ware the creator needs funding to continue development

There are games that I preorder because I know I’m going to buy them (say what you want but I’ve bought every Pokemon game since I was 4 for the past 27 years and even though I got burned with a few like Sword and Shield, I always play the shit out of these games to the max) or if I trust the developer (if Digital Extremes had a game for pre-order or for Slay the Spire II).
If not in one of those super selective categories, I won’t even preorder something like Doom where I like Id but hate Microsoft and know enshittification is coming for Id eventually. Always wait and see after release or see if I can just do a month sub of GamePass to play it.

Idk why people always get upset over this. I always pre order my games and there’s nothing wrong with it. XD

No, i pre order digital games because i want to waste the least time between it coming out and me starting it

I only pre-order physical games, usually special editions if I like the franchise

If you’re already paying full price, might as well get the pre-order bonus. Some games never put those up for sale again

The reason why we pre-order them is not because you can’t wait but to rather get cool OG’s gifts when the game releases.

I pre-order games for 3 reasons – 1. i’m excited. 2. it’s there waiting for me. 3. you get extras.

Well time to capture the talking ape and sell it to science. I will be able to pre-order so many games with that money.

I only preorder if there’s a discount for doing so, *and* I know it’ll be good. Otherwise, I’m waiting for a sale. Looking at you BL4, still waiting on that 90% off. Only a year or two more to wait.
