Started working out AGAIN this year, stayed consistent 14 days, and then a rat bit me and i had to be on anti biotics and ended up taking 28 days of break since then, cause of fever and side effects.

Worst part of breaking consistency is starting again. It feels so hard to start again from scratch and build that momentum again.

it almost feels hopeless to try again, i lost interest ngl. but i still want to workout get to gym. but the motivation is non existent right now.

    starting again feels exhausting

    1. Motivation will always fade, discipline is the key. Tell yourself do you want to be someone who does what they feel, or does what they said they’d do. Good luck YOU GOT THIS!!!

    2. Seeing this post, honestly. Different circumstances but same vibe for me right now. it helped remind me that even a step getting back to consistency is more than nothing. Truly appreciate the post

    3. Stop thinking about going every day or 4 times a week. This makes you see an insurmountable task.

      Focus on going TODAY.

    4. A body in motion stays in motion. A body at rest stays at rest. The first few times will suck and seem pointless and that’s likely what’s preventing you from going. However,
efforts compound over time. And skipping the gym compounds as well. So just go and don’t think too much. Lower the bar for the first few times to get going again.

Remember that you already did it. This was the key for me at least. I used to try to keep a consistent fitness routine but once a holiday or sickness rolls around I’m unable to continue again for months.

But recently in the last couple of years I’ve managed to stick to it despite external factors by following the thought that I’ve done it before, so I can definitely do it again, nothing is stopping me. And now I use this form of thinking for a lot of my other goals.

Additionally, I would also say that once you remove the guilt and shame from not doing something you set yourself to, the pressure drops dramatically, at least for me ymmv.

E.g I missed the gym today, u feel guilty, and the guilt starts to ruminate and in turn tells me “why bother, I’m going to just drop it again further down so better to not start at all”. But once I learned to remove the guilt, it became “it’s okay I missed today, I can pick up where I left off tomorrow and the world won’t end”.

1.Pick a day to restart (tomorrow is good).

2.Restart on that day. No excuses.
