Hitler invaded the soviet union at the end of June, he was not thinking about reaching winter. Him and most german generals just thought that the soviets were so inferior that they would crumble before autumn.
The original plan for barbarossa was invading in mid-may, but the italian war against the balkans left the germans with something that was more urgent, so they had to move the invasion to june.
The problem was not winter, it was the forevergreen underestimation if how resilient the eastern europeans are. The same thing happened to the soviets in 1940 against the f1nns.

I’m not a History expert, but didn’t Hitler and Napoleon invade during the Summer? They just didn’t think their campaigns in Russia would last till winter.

I live in Cleveland – between November-April, it can be anywhere from 70 degrees to 20 below zero

I know it’s not historic or accurate, but it’s funny so let it live(and correct historic misconceptions along the way)

Where’s the Soviets when they first invaded Finland?

It was less the winter, and more the mud that got them.
