      The funny thing about this is that SO many other countries are younger if we only count the current political organization as the start of the country like we do for America. The Federal Republic of Germany began in 1949. The current French Republic started in 1958. The Russian Federation started in 1991.

      I have an *X* great grandfather who faught in the Revolutionary War and I remember being a little surprised how few generations ago it was.

    6. The oldest public building in my city was built in 1796 (there’s older houses and stuff) it was the second church built on the site
