Most of the younger people today don’t realize opening a soda, pop or beer back then left you with not only the pull ring but the peeled off portion of the lid that became the sippin’ hole. I read as a kid some people would throw em back in the can and would occasionally choke on them to the deth. So many ways to d!e back then

The leeks are something to do with the Welsh traditional dress of the women, leeks being the national emblem of Wales.

Leeks are traditionally worn for St. David’s Day, also explains why two of the ladies are in traditional Welsh costume.

I used to have that pop top book as a kid, I got it at a library sale I believe. This was in the 2000s, and I didn’t realize the tabs had been changed when I picked the book out, so unfortunately I never got to make anything!

Picture 6 “What is happening here…?” shows a St.David’s Day celebration (Dydd Gwyl Dewi) in Wales. The leek (as well as the daffodil) are symbols of Wales ( leek = cenhinen, daffodil = cenhinen pedr )

The ladies are wearing traditional Welsh dress complete with bonnet; [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_Welsh_costume](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_Welsh_costume)
