Nowhere near 1950. The film *Broken Star* was released in April 1956.
Other posts of this photo have placed it in 1959. Anyway, we know for certain it is no earlier than April 1, 1956.

I highly recommend *The Measure of a Man*, one of his autobiographies. He was an amazing man who knew what he wanted, worked hard and sacrificed a lot to realize his dream.
