    1. Is it just me or is this meme everywhere on this site? I swear everyday is a new post with this meme.

    2. I finally managed to buy a house last year, but only after spending 10 years saving money while my parents let me live with them rent-free until I was 35. If not for that, there’s no way I would’ve pulled it off. My parents thankfully understood that buying a house is next to impossible right now, and gave me all the help that they could to lift me up to where I could do it. God bless them, I am very fortunate to have parents like that, and I don’t take that for granted. I could never imagine if they had kicked me out at 18 and told me to figure it out, there’s no way I’d ever be able to buy a house.

Mine was just saying “12%” as if that was a lot for 90k with income-generating land.

    4. I was lucky enough to find a border-line condemned house to buy at a sheriff’s sale auction for 3k. This was in 2021 and I spent the last 4 years learning how to gut and remodel it alone. The issue now is that I can’t afford all of the big things it needs, like cutting down multiple big trees threatening to grow into my house and a new roof, even that costs well over 20k now a days.

just stop buying avocdo toast and u will literally manifest an 800k mortgage by next tuesday bro its simply that easy

    6. My dad is actually the opposite. He’s been in the business industry out of university and in blue collar during uni. He’s quite aware of how the market is. I hold a degree in finance and I’m working towards my cfa so we often talk about the markets and such things. I’ve done math to show how much i need for a house (it’s fucking depressing) and my father said he would help me.

    7. So where is this actually accurate? LA? SF? Cuz starter homes are affordable af in a lot of places

    8. Maybe not going out every other week, cutting down on subscription and not making useless purchases off Amazon would help. Also maybe move to an apartment outside of downtown? 2.5k is a lot. You can get cheaper if you just take the bus or drive to work.

Not saying that the economy isn’t fucked and buying a house is easy. But the amount of people saying: “ugh I have no money even if I’m saving.” and then spending 400$ at the bar with their friends the next day is abnormally high.

In my country the only good thing from more than a decade of economic stagnation is that house prices have risen bellow inflation, which is great news if you can find a job as the unemployment rate is over 30%.
