    1. A mainframe computer is a centralized computer for an office, school, business, etc. They varied for uses, but the basics were the same, they had ‘dummy’ terminals scattered around the building that could access the centralized computer’s resources. It was effectively one big computer that everyone at the building shared.

This is not a mainframe computer. It’s a personal computer. It is possible that it was connected to a mainframe, and could log into the mainframe computer, but this in itself is not a mainframe computer.

Not a mainframe. LOL. In 1981, a mainframe would require the small square footage of a small house not to mention the need for cooling both with air handlers and water. What you see is an access terminal.

    3. I used a similar terminal when studying for my computer science degree in 1981. The University mainframe was a CDC Cyber, and took up a large room on it’s own

It doesn’t matter what kind of computer that is. Ya mom was smokin…

    5. Is that *your* mom, OP? So it’s like Mom’s means your mom is… Or is that a misused apostrophe? Or, lastly, is this meant to have plural moms, but only features a singular one?

    6. My typos and misrepresentation of computer type get mad traction. She’s now an artist thriving in socal.

    7. You would think a bot knows what a mainframe is because, there isn’t one in this picture.

    8. Not a “mainframe.” We called them “terminals” back then. Terminals accessed a mainframe.

Pretty wild to think about. Back then having a mainframe computer at home was almost unheard of….she was way ahead of her time.

I miss initial sweaters. I won’t go into how this may or may not be a mainframe computer, as plenty have ad nauseum. It’s cool to me that my generation created something so many of yours enjoy and help expand on today.

    11. During my course a VAX was installed in the Computer department. I did not see a PC until my first job
