I have some stupid little time waster games on my phone for the kids to play. Occasionally the adds will be straight up porn.

I thought deleting them and getting different ones would solve it; nope.

Ads dont care about your feelings, they care about sales. And nothing else. If they can’t target you directly they’ll target you indirectly by forcing the most out of pocket shit on you, as you can see. So you better let yourself get tracked for the growing bottom line of alphabet, they reeeaaally need that money for more useless AI products

    3. Also even if you disable targeted ads, they still collect your data

Best thing you can do is to use an adblocker, preferably adnauseam that blocks ads and poisons the data by “clicking” on every blocked ad, with the added benefit of (very slightly) hurting the companies who advertise

    4. It’s accepted because advertisers pay [insert service here] to run their ads, but users usually pay very little or may even make money off of the service.

That’s why YouTube will demonetise you for saying naughty words but then show you ads for porn games.

      Install adnauseum
It clicks every ad in the background for you and blocks ads.
You also get a total of how much advertiser money you have wasted.

I haven’t seen ads for the last 5 years

Except when reinstalling, I will always make sure my ad blocker is up to date

The only downside is that all my grindr matches are male, cus my ad blocker removed the fe

    7. I have it off everywhere because I was done.

When my parents asked why my YouTube watch history was off this was essentially my explanation. I hate personalized ads. They suck. And they aren’t even personalized.

There need to be actual real serious restrictions on what can and can’t be advertised where and when. It’s genuinely to the point where the free speech defense might need to be given an exception. Like… just… brother your website is full of 2000 malicious scam ads for viruses and extortion scams I’m never turning Adblock off.

Meh, I only get that kind of garbage sometimes with personized ads off. My ads cycle between the most random stuff, in phases. Right now it thinks I reaaally need insurance. Sometimes it throws every kind of dating app imaginable at me. Sometimes random political ads.

I do agree those ads shouldn’t be allowed though.

You get porn ads because you disabled personalised ads. I get porn ads because I enabled personalised ads.

      We are not the same

    10. I hate seeing the same ads again and again, especially for things I already use. But actual porn playing over the Lego set review is too much

So it’s actually more than just that, your phone is your real enemy. You have to disable microphone permissions on all your phone apps,(including Google), disable the integrated AI apps, and clear your cookies on browser close.

    12. Consider Brave as a browser, it is a chromium browser with built in adblocking and also stops trackers and such from various sites. As a bonus it also removes most of the “we care about your privacy” pop-ups as well

I’ve used it for about three years and I’ve never seen an ad since

      Edit: spelling
