Politics would be 100x better if more people handled losses like this.

They’re both quality candidates, thankfully. In a just world, being black and running to become a Senate nominee wouldn’t be a dealbreaker in Texas, and it shouldn’t. We don’t live in a just world, obviously.

That said, I *also* don’t understand why she took AIPAC money. I’m on a whole lotta fuck the Israeli government right now and am a little disappointed that she did that.

It was weird to have 2 candidates I wanted to vote for. I look forward to seeing where she goes from here.

    4. Big respect for putting the bigger goal first. That kind of unity is exactly how long shot states start turning competitive.

    5. Youwannasitonmyface on

Thank god for this response. We’re so used to politicians fighting back and forth that it’s nice to just see actual professionalism. At the end of the day they have the same goal, fuck it.

Crockett’s time will come. Talarico is the right option for the moment, but she isn’t going anywhere and she’ll be a force to be reckoned with for a long time to come. We, as a country, are lucky to have her.

That’s nice. But I’m severely discouraged about voting for parties where the people are so imminently anti-black while claiming they aren’t.

I expected it from conservatives, but from progressive’s? So-called friends? Using dog whistles against her “she’s too aggressive, she’s too loud” doubting her ability to work with conservatives, despite that being a problem when Kamala tried it.

For what? If he wins great, but if he doesn’t, Black people like myself all over America are going to be discouraged and angry that yet another qualified candidate didn’t get the chance to try simply because she isn’t the right color.

Man, I wish we had such good candidates to chose from in Senate races in Missouri. Either would make a great choice for Senator.

I wish Talarico the best of luck in November and hope that Crockett will stay in politics and keep winning.

    9. Unsurprisingly a class act at the end of the day. I hope to see her continue on in politics in some form!

Time to hear nothing more about this race until the excuses begin for Talarico’s potential loss.

If ‘unbothered and focused’ was a person. She didn’t lose, she just redistributed the energy to the win.

I’m not from Texas I’m angry that once again this country is proving it doesn’t want a black woman to lead.

I get that it’s Texas and well… look at how they vote.

I also just get annoyed at how intense left leaning folks get for white dudes running and further helping the notion that black women aren’t electable 😒

But whatever… I shouldn’t be shocked anymore by what this country decides to do.

Jasmine Crockett is great and she handled this loss so well. She is destined for something bigger I think.

    14. My heart is broken for her. I was torn between the two of them and ultimately I voted for Jasmine. She’s right though. Everyone that showed up for the primaries needs to vote in November.

    15. I really like her and she’s a class act as well as a great fighter. Happy for Talerico.

    16. Republicans allegedly wanted Crockett to be the Democratic Candidate over Talarico from what I’ve seen online as they thought she’d be easier to beat

    17. AlphaIronSon on

What really sucks for her is that she wasn’t able to run in her House seat so she’s out of Congress come January. AND gave up what was and probably will remain one of the most secure seats in TX.

I wonder who gave her the idea to run cause there are certain seats in politics im not giving up. Ex: Our former VP who should STILL be CA Senator Harris.

Damn Wypipo got in her ear to give up that seat. A CA Democrat Senator?! That’s damn near a lifetime appointment. SMDH. You see Chuck doing that kind of nonsense??

    18. Its so nice to see a primary with two qualified candidates and the only real issue between them is their policies. Not who can scream the loudest, not who has more skeletons.

Just… Who would be better for the position. Which one would represents the state better in the senate.

      It’s refreshing.

    19. Fuck, she’s so cool!

I wish her a long, *active* political career going forward. We need more passion and class in our politicians now more than ever.

    20. PutzerPalace on

Because she is a CLASS ACT! She will be an incredible leader and I’m excited for her future

    21. I feel like she didn’t even try, it was like a nice to have, but she wasn’t super serious about.

    22. This is classy AF and the energy we need. Both candidates had similar values, just different approaches.

    23. I made a very bad mistake and perused the comments. Twitter is just full of some of the most racist motherfuckers/bots out there, huh? Fucking wild bullshit. Makes Reddit look goddamned civilized, and that’s really saying something.

    24. I look forward to her continuing in politics. Too bad Cancun Cruz isn’t up for re-election again until 2030.

    25. oddlySpecificunicorn on

Y’all remember the last time a highly qualified woman candidate was running for office???

Y’all remember the last time a highly qualified woman ran Texas???

Eventually. They’ll learn after they have nothing left to lose.

    26. RunningShcam on

It hurts me that she is no longer in the race, because we need both not just one of them, at least from the limited knowledge I have of the two.

    27. Br0ther_Blood on

In this political climate, she had no chance of winning to be honest. It’s a shame she has to leave congress.

    28. Comfortable-Rent9843 on

Wow a classy woman. We still love you Crockett keep putting those republicans in their place girl.

    29. LegalComplaint on

Does she get to run for her seat? If not, can she just follow around MTG insulting her publicly? Like, for my sanity?

    30. donkeythesnowman on

Talarico is definitely the right choice, but I wouldn’t have been mad had Crocket won. Happy to see she’s being an absolute class act about this. I expected her to lose with grace, but it’s nice to see regardless.

    31. Honestly kind of wished she had run for governor. Already had a prebuilt beef with Abbott and her and Talarico both running could have really juiced up a big combined coalition. Though I understand not doing what would be considered by many to be a sacrificial lamb role.

    32. WebInformal9558 on

She’s awesome, and I think she has a long, bright career in politics ahead of her.
