God, I hate being this person, but I’m going to say it anyway because we need to understand the long-term consequences of the things we vote on that don’t seem to be connected…
These farmers will be just fine because they are going to have prison labor replace immigrant labor in the fields. When California voted against banning slavery as a punishment for criminals, it sealed the deal on prison labor becoming a large-scale commodity.
These articles are meant to garner sympathy for the plight of farmers, so we won’t be surprised or offended when they turn to prison labor to make up the shortages. And one guess who is going to make up the vast majority of that prison labor force… 😒
