How much I hate the “who civilized who” argument.
Both were civilized in their own ways, they mixed, they created something new, a new civilization, a new cosmogony. A mixture of two (three, four, even) continents.

that’s um a bit reductive… doesn’t make the Spanish right or the good guys at all, but the Spanish wouldn’t have won without Tlaxcalteca allies who for some reason disliked the Aztecs and rebelled at the first chance.
