He was not even the most progressive politician running in 1912. Roosevelt and Debs were leagues ahead of him

I do like he attempted to try make balanced solutions for geopolitical issues, although it didnt work out but did make US appear less agressive in a time of chaos.

Also the federal reserve was a massive W for the country, otherwise quite meh, racist but not bombastically stupid like Andrew Johnson or bush jr.

    3. If France and Britain listened to him and just forgave Germany they could have averted world war 2.

    4. Wilson’s historical ranking dropping overtime is one of the more interesting subplots in historical discourse I’ve noted over the course of my life

    5. I am too European and know Wilson on the surface, can someone explain to me how he is supposed to be “one of the most progressive politicians”?

… He supported Albania’s indipendence against Serbia/Greece/Italy so he did something good

Wilson in many way strikes me as the economic spiritual successor to Andrew Jackson. His ideal America was one where your political and economic rights were guaranteed…if you were a white male.

    8. Racism was tied to science back then, as no non-european state had developed yet there was reasonable evidence to back it up, and it was also almost uncontested.

Honestly, I think all of us would have been pretty racists back then. Thankfully, Truth wins in the end.

    9. He has very high pros and very high negatives as a president. A lot of people have a hard time judging that.

Yeah no his “progressive” was just minimal self determination for the European ethnicities white enough for him to care, and the less catholic they were the better
