The Hohenfurth Cycle is a set of 9 painted panels depicting the life of Christ. The paintings were probably created ibetween 1345 and 1350 in Prague at the workshop of the Master of Hohenfurth. It is disputed who commissioned the pieces and where they would originally have been displayed, but at some point, the paintings were used to decorate the Cistercian abbey of Hohenfurth (modern Vyšší Brod, Czechia). The paintings are considered today to be among the most important examples of Gothic art from Bohemia, and can be viewed at the Convent of St Agnes, Prague.
This image is the 5th in the series, depicting the crucifixion of Jesus.
