Why does the money go back to companies?
Consumers paid for the tariffs.

It’s not going to be back to you, it’s going to go back to the corporations that have been brutalizing us for the last year.

Why on earth would this money go back to the companies? They jacked up prices to cover the tariffs so they wouldn’t lose money. They didn’t Pa tariffs we did

Giving “us” back? Hahaha, no friend. If refunds happen, the tariff charges that were passed on by companies to you, the consumer, will be refunded to the companies. You ain’t gettin back shit.

I thought Trump was going to give everyone $2000. If you really want to kickstart the economy give the money to people who will actually spend it, mostly in their own communities.

They’re not giving “us” back the money. If anything they’ll refund the importers. None of us are getting a refund check from Walmart for the higher tariff-adjusted prices we already paid.
Fool_In_Flow on
I bet the keep the prices high even if they no longer have tariffs. Maybe this was the plan the whole time.

Take from the taxpayers once by permanently raising prices, double dip and get even more.

We aren’t getting the money back. Most of us, the consumers, didnt pay the tarrifs. The companies that paid the importing would be the ones getting the money back. Even then with lowered costs they are unlikely to really lower prices back to what they were because we are now trained to expect the new price. They can reduce what has been a 30% price increase since 2024 to just a 25% price increase, say they are reducing pain on consumers, get the pr win, and pocket the increased profits

I like the idea of giving it back to the states as a few governors are suggesting. They would be more responsible to see that the money goes back to those who paid the taxes…er…tariffs.

Any tariffs that are returned (as if) will go to the corporations for the shareholders to pocket.

It’s highly unlikely that the companies will pass any of that money back to the American consumer who actually paid for the tariffs. This would just end up being another win for the rich.
