In 1994, a Los Angeles Power Outage caused the Milky Way to outshine the entire sky. People called 911 to report the “strange phenomenon” because they never saw it before. Light Pollution of L.A has blinded people of what nature is…

Wild how a blackout didn’t make the city darker, it just finally let the universe turn the lights back on.
This is a random photo, not of the actual event. If it’s not AI generated it’s a modern composite made with a high exposure lens. Also the story is highly apocryphal.
No it didn’t.
This did not happen
Love how they think the local police department has control over the sky. Cargo cult behavior.
Lights went out… and so did the smog?

You can see the Milky Way from anywhere that’s far enough from a city/suburb. I grew up in the Catskills and it was always very visible as long as the sky was clear. It didn’t look like this.
The first time I saw the sky without artificial lights around it was awe inspiring and a little terrifying.
It wasn’t colorful like this image, but I did finally understand how our ancestors saw constellations.
I have never been to areas without Light pollution, I once want to see this

People in Los Angeles know what nature is. The power outage was caused by a big earthquake. That’s nature. Also, the phones were down. I know. I was there.
I’ll never forget being in Big Bend, TX and seeing the Milky Way. It’s one of the best spots to view it from

The thought of space makes me feel so tiny
