‘The right people voting’ is one of those phrases that tells on itself.

    1. It’s wild this is a phrase that feels normalized in the so called “most free country out there”

    2. Yeah, and it’s not just Noem. I was talking to my MAGA dad, years ago, about abolishing the electoral college. He said that we needed it, otherwise the wrong people would get elected. No mention of what the people wanted or whether it represented the majority of Americans; his only concern was winning by any means necessary. This is what they’ve wanted for 30 years.

Ummm…I know it doesn’t matter these days, but that’s pretty close to a violation of 5 USC Sections 7321-7326 (The Hatch Act of 1939) preventing cabinet officers (or most Federal officials) from “electioneering.”

Clear admission of election interference. They are really throwing it all at the wall and hoping they can forcefully keep power.

    5. “Right people voting to elect the right people” – yikes, you’re not supposed to say the quiet shit out loud

    6. My idea of the “right people voting” and their idea are polar opposites. My idea is “all American citizens 18 years old and older” while their idea is “only white conservative men” or even “white conservative men that own property”.

Undocumented immigrants voting in federal elections happens so rarely it’s not even a blip on charts of voting. Election and voter fraud is already so rare that even uncaught it wouldn’t even begin to affect the results, the systems already in place catch the vast majority of attempted fraud before the vote is even counted, and the vast majority of the miniscule amount of voter and election fraud are Republican voters trying to vote for Republicans more than once.

Numerous partisan, non-partisan, and bipartisan studies have proven this time and time again, including multiple studies that Trump very publicly initiated after his first election (and then when the results came back not to his liking he never brought them up again).

The goal of every single idea Republicans have to “secure” elections isn’t to secure elections (again, they are already secure), it’s to make it harder for certain groups to vote, especially minorities.

    7. Why is the Secretary of DHS discussing election integrity? I wasn’t aware that was within the job scope of DHS.

    8. So if they’re going to have ICE patrols at the ballot boxes, everyone should dress in camo gear and chew tobacco while in line to avoid being singled out.

    9. The Four Horsemen of the Trump Apocalypse: Kristi Noem, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Pete Hegseth, and Pam Bondi. Honorable mentions: Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick.

The situation in the US is genuinely scaring me – and I’m sure a lot of people are with me. I hope you will have fair elections for the upcoming one but it doesn’t seem likely.

    11. Once again we need to abolish DHS. It has way too many powers and little oversight that allow it to be state-sec like here.

Jesus Christ. What a horrible timeline this is. It’s just a fucking joke, all of it.

If Republicans could make it a capital offense to vote for Democrats, they would. They’re probably actively working on making it happen as we speak

    14. A politician saying she wants the “right people” voting so the “right people” will be elected is pretty fascist sounding to me.

    15. All you need to do to distract ICE Barbie on election day is to hide her blankie. Then she won’t have time to interfere.
