    1. In 1517, the Zhengde Emperor of the Ming dynasty created an alter ego called General Zhu Shou (朱壽), to personally guard the northern borders of his empire and strengthen his authority (and probably also for the lulz).

      He granted Zhu Shou grand military titles, praised him on multiple occasions, and appointed him to lead campaigns against the Mongols.

    2. It was seen as “improper” for the Son of Heaven to be that involved in earthly manners as a potential defeat of the emperor could suggest that he lost the Mandate of Heaven so there should always be a level of separation between him and the actual running of military operations

      So this mad lad just made up and alter ego and went to war anyways. Even his soldiers had to refer to him by his made up name
