I was in Orange County around 2000 and hungry, so I stopped in a deli and got a sandwich and a coffee. As I was sitting down with my sandwich, Gwen S. came in with her parents and ordered breakfast. I ate slowly, enjoying the moment.
They left, and then I took my plate to the counter and said to the guy something like, “Gwen comes in here often?” The 20-year-old behind the counter was more starstruck than me, He said, “You know Gwen? Wow!” and he babbled on. He had mistaken my question for a statement.
