An illustration from the 16th century CE Codex Ríos, depicting the Toltecs dragging a dead giant that the god Tezcatlipoca had abandoned near the capital Tula. In Aztec mythology, the Quinametzin are a race of giants that were punished by the gods because they did not venerate them [800×449]

I don’t know a ton about ancient mythology but aren’t there similar myths about giants either defying and/or being abandoned/killed by God/s in Christianity, Greek and Norse mythology? I know religions borrowed a lot from or were influenced by each other in Europe/Middle East/North Africa and probably some from farther abroad but find it interesting that such an unrelated culture would also have this mythology.
Any insight into these cultural parallels (a sort of buffer race between Man and God/s) would be appreciated.
It all comes back to “listen to authority figures or horrible things will happen to you”
