Preserved Enslaved persons Cabins at Whitney Plantation in Louisiana. [865×417]
As many as twenty field hands would live in a building like this, with two rooms in the front, two rooms in the back, and a double-sided fireplace in between.
Went there a few years back. It was incredible and horrible.

its great that they preserved this slavery is often only remembered today through the large plantation houses and not the horrible conditions that slaves had to live in.
