Neighbor’s house looks like it’s overflowing with ramen noodles

    1. No joke, that’s some really bad ice damming and those people assuredly have some pretty gross rot occurring in the attic and walls of that room.

      What is happening here?

I assume it’s ice, but where is the water coming from and why is it different colours?

    3. The forbidden spaghetti.
Legend has it, anyone who can lick all the different flavors at the same time, will be granted the power to touch their elbow with their tongue!!!

    4. This is happening due to something called an “ice dam” on the roof. There is poor insulation in their attic so when heat rises it causes snow to melt on the roof and flow down towards the gutter. But when it gets to the gutter it freezes again causing a long line of ice along the gutter. Eventually the water starts to pool behind the ice and once there’s enough it flows backwards under the shingles and into the wall of the house. Lastly, the water seeps outside the house and freezes into these gross brown icicles.

If your neighbor checks along their windows / wall on the inside of where you’re seeing these there’s probably water leaking inside too. It can also flow out of outlets inside the house and cause rust on the inside of the walls which can lead to overheating and fires if they don’t unplug everything from those outlets.

Your neighbor should do the following in this order:

      1. You should knock on their door and let them know. This can destroy houses, especially when it starts to warm up because there’s no ventilation inside the walls for the water to dry up which will cause massive amounts of mold.

      2. They should hire a contractor to shovel the snow off their roof. The problem will stop immediately since there’s no more snow to melt into the ice dam.

      3. They need to contact their home insurance company immediately. Their insurance should cover a new roof, new insulation, and they’ll even send out a 3rd party inspector for the roof and probably have someone with a small camera thread it into the wall to check for water damage

    5. Water draining from a soffit is never a good thing. They might want to investigate that further.

    6. Op I think you’re just jealous your house doesn’t have such long, luxurious, rotten smelling locks of hair like your neighbors!

    7. Oh just saw this same situation with a young bear video someone posted – your house has tapeworms.
