If this was taken in 1861, she wasn’t married yet. If this was earlier in 1861, she was in mourning for her grandmother, the Duchess of Kent; her father, Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, died in December of 1861. Alice married Prince Louis of Hesse-Darmstadt in 1862.
