Reminds me of my BIL arguing against minimum wage increases because those jobs “aren’t supposed to be careers”. Like, they’re not supposed to pay a living wage.
Lmao “supposed to” according to who? The billionaires who would use us all as slaves if they could? Who made up that rule? There is no such thing.

If Jeff Bezos lost $100 billion, do you know how much his life would change?
Not one fucking bit.
How much money would change your life? If you won $1 million today would your life change?
Jeff Bezos could lose 100,000x that amount and it wouldn’t change his life in any meaningful way.
And yet people like him will scratch and claw for more. Why? What could you possibly not have? It’s a mental illness. It seriously has to be.

Weird, it worked for 50 years of the 20th century then when they stopped, everything went shit.

Maybe a hot take?
I’m fine with people becoming stupidly wealthy (up to a point) in their own lifetimes. You want to risk it all on a crazy business idea or invention that pays off? Good for you, go make a billion dollars (and pay taxes on it).
But when that person dies, their wealth should be redistributed back into the system. Their heirs shouldn’t inherit it all. You didn’t work for that wealth or take thoses risks. You were born lucky. Wealth accumulation should be meritocratic, but a roll of the dice.
Anyways, ban generational wealth, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Try thinking of it this way: there are workers who create wealth. Presumably, that money belongs to them. But, much of that money is taken away and given away to someone who did not earn that money. In recent decades, we have changed laws and regulations to distribute more of the money created by workers to people who did not earn that money themselves. What we’re looking at is the situation where we have to “un-redistribute” the money. Workers can then take home more of the money they earned, so they can pay for their own food, heating and cooling, health insurance, and so forth. As the situation stands now, we pay for the healthcare, food, and heating and cooling expenses of underpaid workers of billionaires. We should not have to pay extra taxes to keep the employees of billionaires alive.

What about taxing the rich and say that any country that host them if they flee, will face massive tariffs?

Just so long as we solve the right problem.
Tons of people care more about punishing the rich than they care about helping the poor

*Upward* redistribution/concentration of wealth works very well *for those on top*.

Collectivism has been tried numerous times. It’s never worked out well for people before, but this time it’ll for sure work!
In all seriousness, though, capitalism itself isn’t the problem. It’s our version of crony capitalism that allows those with the greatest means not need to contribute their fair share. We’ve outsourced the writing of laws to the rich with no mandate to serve the collective good.

It worked fine when they stole *our* resources in the name of the *Free Market*
They love redistributing wealth upward, providing just compensation for a days labor is not in their belief system. “He who stole the resources gets to determine what is just and fair”

The same people that say trickle down economics work, you know they giggle when they say that because they are getting ready for you to literally drink their piss after they have poisoned all the fresh water.

Socialized healthcare could never possibly work! Sincerely, the private health insurance industry and the ghouls they pay.
