My beard oil ate through the rubber stopper

This is why you don’t put WD40 on things with seals. Oil causes rubber to disintegrate eventually.

They’re either aware of this issue and try to sell stock before the oil eats the rubber or they have no idea and are in for a surprise.. I’d let them know just in case. It’s a good brand, I’d like to think they’d care.

You should inform the company, I work with polymers and it’s not that your oil is bad for your skin it’s just likely the company doesn’t know they chose an incompatible material! You can do compatibility testing but it typically takes 500+ days at elevated temps and some companies forego the commitment when launching a product

    4. This happened to me too with homemade beard oil! And now I have a jar of the same brand, and I can tell the dropper is slowly starting to go. 🙁

I have another bottle with a press-to-dispense mechanism but the smell is way too strong, so I just take the lid entirely off and let the tiniest drop fall from the straw, and mix it in with three drops of the unscented stuff.

      Anyway, I’m done rambling.

    5. I’ve learned with my beard oil to not let it sit unused for long periods of time. I’d say don’t keep them longer than a year if it has the rubber dropper style top.

Same thing, same product. Oil breaks down rubber. You aren’t supposed to use oil based lube with latex condoms for this reason

    7. Ayyy Honest Amish! It’s my go to, the only beard oil that doesn’t make it feel kinda gunky.

    8. How many beards died just to make that one bottle of beard oil?  It’s time the breeding and trafficking of beards was made illegal.

    9. Funny, I have a two liter soda bottle cap on my beard oil bottle because my cap broke. different brand though (duke cannon)

    10. Oils often dissolve rubber. Nothing to worry about except the thoughtless design. Your face is not rubber. i’m

    11. This just happened to a bottle I have of honest Amish too. I thought it s was just a fluke holy shit. I had to throw it away with like 1/4 of the bottle left. Mine also did this after it got tipped on its side in my travel bag. While moving.

    12. Just my two cents. I have used this brand for 5 plus years and never have had a problem with it. I completely believe you that this happened but my gut tells me you storing it upside down is the culprit. Also how fast do you go through bottles? I go through this size in a couple of weeks but again I store my upright so none of the oil sits in contact with the plastic parts. Just FYI. Use that information as you will.

    13. Same thing just happened to a bottle of honest Amish classic I had in my travel bag. Guessing they changed the supplier they are getting the droppers from. Been using it for years and first time I’ve had an issue.

    14. The same shit happened to me, same size same brand. Ruined my toiletry bag and completely soaked the fuck out of the bigger bag it was inside of. Chalked it up to a bad batch and kept it pushing. Now I’m mad all over again. These bums need to fix their shit.

    15. I had the same problem with Honest Amish, storing it laying down in a drawer. The small puddle it made with the slow leak added a compatible smell with the wood drawer. But, had to throw it out.
