A Manichæan silk painting of the Buddha-Jesus, from the Southern Song Dynasty, c.12-13th century CE. A syncretic figure is seated in lotus position. He holds a red lotus, in which rests a golden cross. He is haloed by a Christian nimbus, and rests under a Buddhist chatra (now faded). [540×1280]
Manichaeism was a weird, weird faith and it was surprisingly popular.

What I find interesting about Manichaeism is how it was a world religion spanning from modern day Algeria to China that rivaled other religions such as Christianity, and yet nowadays hardly anyone knows about the religion.
