‘anime lovers’ when there isn’t an over the top animated fight scenen or fan service in literally every episode

    2. I’ve watched clips on YouTube and some scenes are amazing so I watched it for 4 episodes. Ive gone back to watching clips.

    3. Anybody you drops Frieren after a couple of episodes opinion doesn’t matter anyway because they’re very clearly the tiktok brainrot shonen slop tourists that everybody hates these days. Otherwise they’d have the attention span to sit through non-action scenes and actually appreciate story.

It’s good but absolutely no where close to being the greatest anime of all time like a lot of people make it out be that’s why I don’t like Frieren fans

    5. If you don’t like it then don’t watch it. More for the rest of us. If you didn’t get the first episode you won’t get it.

    6. I once discussed this with a book writer. He told me that no one can write like Tolkien nowadays because audiences do not like the slow burn as a introduction. You have to give a premise, a goal, and world built from episode one or people will not read chapter 2.

The reason why stories start with something shocking like a revelation, an apocalypse, or the dead of someone or something traumatic or wonderous is to keep the audience from feeling boring and set expectations so they already can guess what is the story is going to be. Also every so often you have to give them something to entertain themselves like something sexy like someone showering, funny like a doofus routine, or cool like battles. Is the baby keys dancing in front of our eyes.

Check old shows compared to the new ones today, like star trek, lord of the rings, even shows like breaking bad. They all have quiet and slow moments. I think Games of thrones and Frieren are the last shows with slow moments I have seen. In my experience those that do the slow burn and manage to keep their audience make their scenes memorable.

I can’t remember half of what happened in the battle of the five armies in the hobbit but I don’t know why I do remember Gandalf preparing his pipe after the whole battle just to relax himself a bit.

    7. honestly its a slower and more chill focused anime than a lot of other animes (especially one with a title that couldd be translated to frieren the slayer) but its such a fun anime and i love the chill vibes it has

    8. Who the hell has ever said anything bad about frieren? Like no seriously, I have never heard anyone say that. Please tell me, who does this?

I thought that same thing for apothecary only to give it a second chance and see how peak it is

    10. “Why is it so boring” counterpoint: why does something extravagant always have to happen? Sit down, relax, and enjoy something that just is.

This image implies it’s boring up to a point (until you reach diamonds)… which is wrong

Frieren is never boring from minute one. Every episode feels like it lasts 5 min, so if you think it’s boring that’s on you, it’s just not your type of anime.

For some, the SoL being the main premise of the show overshadows how insane the fight scenes are and I can understand that. If you dont like SoL this show wont hit, and you are better off watching the snippet fight scenes and be fine.

    13. The same people will say that Farmland Saga was boring.

These people don’t know how to appreciate true art

Frieren is not my type of show. I think all the characters are unlikable mostly.

    15. The story telling format of Frieren is kinda flawed. It’s usualy a bunch of one of forgetable fillery episodes followed by a pretty good longer story arc. Then fillers again and story arc again.

Current 3 episodes of season 2 feel pretty meh but from the formula I expect something great soon.

    16. I dropped it after 3 episodes, it wasn’t for me. Keep in mind I liked season 2 of Vinland Saga more than the first one. To each its own!

    17. I disagree with the premise of this. Freiren hits incredibly hard from the very first episode. It’s practically a masterclass in one episode writing. If someone doesn’t like the show by the one-episode rule, they’re probably not going to appreciate any of the rest of it.

I think it’s the greatest shit since sliced bread but I can understand how it might not be for everyone.

    19. I’m guessing this is a meme about those who can’t even finish the first episode. Or have no empathy whatsoever.

    20. It’s not mid, but just like all other entertainment/popular media, it’s also not for everyone

    21. Hahahaha imagine depriving yourself of Frieren fighting against her clone just because the first episodes don’t have a battle, they are weak and don’t deserve to see the peak of magic

Frieren as a character is repetitive about himmel , I like the side characters more than the main one .

      Ubel , serie , methode , stark , sein , kraft , wirbel, flamme .

These characters had more interesting scenes than the two main protagonists …

      Maybe it’s just me …

I saw the anime because of lawline and ubel , and I ended up liking the characters that I mentioned.

    23. Frieren is boring… But it’s entertaining.

Not everything needs to be explosions and flopping titties.

    24. This is me on episode 785 of one piece wondering if there’s diamonds after months of boredom.. my coworker insisting this arc willl be the one that gets me addicted

This is not a good image.
It’s not something you wait to get good…

It’s something that you enjoy the journey or you don’t. If your idea of good is flashy dights you’re watching the wrong anime even though there are some flashy fights

TBH this season will be kinda boring since it will end just before really cool stuff happens. They will just walk around and there will be just one really good fight.

    27. I watched 4 episodes and went “Hey it’s pretty good, I’ll watch it later”.

This happened last year and still haven’t returned, I’m so good at starting shows and never finishing them 😊

    28. Entendurchfall on

It is a slow burner that suffers from weekly release instead of the complete season all together. Still it is great

    29. I can see that. I enjoy Frieren despite it having some the most boring characters I’ve ever seen. Stale white bread has more charisma and personality than just about every character in the show, but it’s one of the few anime I’ve managed to watch in the last few years.

    30. At this point, I’m watching Frieren mostly for the German words in it. The problem in BJE is that it doesn’t have a story. That means that most of the entertainment comes from the characters. Fern is so boring and even a bit annoying that the internet had to make her interesting by force. Leave it to the internet to pornify a character that has almost no fan service and who’s in a series that doesn’t even make a big deal out of her Schrödinger’s breast size.

    31. It has a much longer incubation period then most anime. Generally, you only have to get through the first episode of an anime, but you have to get through the first three of Frieren. Most people aren’t immediately intrigued when they’re watching a story end.
